Policymakers have implemented various mitigation strategies in order to control Covid-19 viral transmission within schools. Limited study has been conducted to evaluate the success of covid-related mandates during this process. As public participation is crucial to their overall success, the objective of this project is to involve our students in the comprehensive analysis of school mandates, from the perceptive of teachers. A survey was developed to identify the perceptions and opinions of school faculty members regarding Covid-19 mitigation mandates. School faculty and staff were interviewed on their opinions on the school mandates. The study suggests there is a lack of consensus among the individuals surveyed on whether they personally believe mandates should be mandatory, but there is general agreement that there has been a decrease in Covid-19 cases after school mask mandates have gone into effect.Fracture Analysis of Natural Exposures of the Oligocene-Age Suwannee Limestone along the Withlacoochee River in North Florida, near Suwannee River State ParkSandor D. WestlundSponsor: Dr. GroszosThe Withlacoochee River is a meandering entrenched river in north Florida that shows many natural karst-related exposures. These outcrops are an important part of the regional geology. This study focused on measuring fractures within these outcrops. These data were collected during February of 2022 on a canoe traverse down a 6-mile segment of the river ending at its confluence with the Suwannee River at Suwannee River State Park. These data were collected by measuring the strike of the fractures using a Brunton compass. It was not necessary to measure dip because all fractures observed here were vertical. A hand-held GPS was used to record the outcrop locations. Sixty-eight total fractures were measured over 19 different outcrops. Stereographic projection was then used to analyze the data. Initial results show a major trend towards the northwest and a secondary, nearly perpendicular trend, towards the northeast. These results will be combined with concurrent and previous studies to better understand the fracture trends within this area.Expanding Game Theory GamesWalker HayesSponsor: Dr. WangUnder normal circumstances, the most rational decision each player in a game should make is determined by an equilibrium point. However, if the scenario changes in a variety of ways, the equilibrium point would shift and so too would the most rational decision. This project uses iteration and interdependent players to alter the common game theory games, prisoners dilemma and chicken. Iteration allows players to use future decisions as leverage for current ones, though this requires players to value the future enough to agree to work together. Interdependence assumes that the players have some relationship and would therefore take some reward from their opponents success or failure. Exploring these variations is important to accurately represent game theory in real life.50'
